Colours and patterns: room for audacity!

Colours and patterns: room for audacity!

The motto of the early 2000s? From grey to taupe, from classic to ageless! Then the millennial generation took over, slowly building a different definition of aesthetics and daring to make unexpected associations between colours, patterns and universes... So much for shock—there's a story to be told.

"This generation has a completely different concept of beauty!" states Jean-Sébastien Blanc, Co-Founder of 5.5. On the catwalk, young stylists are uniting navy with black, a suit with a trainer, an evening dress with a huge puffer jacket... And they are not afraid to clash. "Millennial pink", an ultra-feminine peachy pink, swept through Instagram, inundating packaging and interior designs.
Tarkett responded to such a bold aesthetic with an almost infinite palette of colours, patterns and textures.

For example, the ID Mixonomi range involves mixing 11 geometric shapes with 34 shades, to create a floor that is as dissonnant as it is unique. And we can also engage with different turquoises in our flooring portfolio to create a swimming pool effect. "We can dare to use flashy yellow welding rods to brighten up a grey floor" explains Jean-Sébastien Blanc. "The flexibility with which Tarkett floor coverings can be used releases a very playful side." Pink can go with orange, diamonds with circles, carpet with vinyl... anything to elevate the attention the floor demands as a strong element of interior design.
