Radical transparency about materials used at Tarkett

Transparency and Certifications

Culture of Transparency

More than a decade ago, we decided to place circularity at the core of our ambitions as a business, moving away from the building industry’s ‘take-make-waste’ model towards a closed-loop system.

The Beauty of Circularity  inspires our commitment to closing the loop, day after day.  We have learned collaboration is the best way for circularity to reach the size and scale needed, and it is with this spirit of transparency and collective action that we share our progress openly and back our sustainability claims with verified data and third-party certifications.

Our Third-Party Certifications and Verifications

Making informed choices starts with having clear, reliable information about your products. That is why independent third-party certifications and verifications—such as Cradle to Cradle®, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), ISO Standards, and Material Health Transparency (MHS)—play a crucial role in assesing sustainability.

These certifications provide transparency and accountability, helping you compare products with confidence and choose solutions that align with your environmental goals.

Cradle-to-Cradle

Cradle to Cradle Certified® is a global standard for safe, circular, and responsibly made products. It assesses material health, circularity, climate impact, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness—ensuring products support a healthy, circular economy.

Material Health Statements (MHS)

A Material Health Statement (MHS) provides clear, transparent information about the chemicals and materials used in a product. It ensures that materials are selected with human and environmental health in mind—reducing harmful content and enhancing the quality of materials for future use.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a third-party verified document that communicates transparent information about the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle. It includes data on raw materials, energy use, emissions, and waste and the products end of life scenario. EPDs support meeting green building certification requirements.

ISO Standards

ISO standards  are internationally recognized frameworks for quality, environmental management, safety, and energy efficiency. When it comes to recycling, Tarkett follows ISO 14021:2016, ensuring that each specific product has verified recycling technology and a local take-back system in place.
