PRESCHOOL INSTALLS TARKETT FLOORING FOR INCREASED HYGIENE & BETTER INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Killarney Vale Preschool is a parent-managed, not-for-profit education center, located in Tumbi Umbi, Bushland. The school recently installed several Tarkett floorings in order to meet its goal of improving the health and wellbeing of the children and staff.
Karen Currie, the Killarney Vale Preschool Director, was surprised at the amount of carpet installed throughout the school, which she suspected aggravated the children’s asthma and allergies. So she decided to enter the Healthy Schools for Healthy Kids competition, in order to win the $15,000 flooring transformation prize and she did!
Greg Widders, Tarkett’s Senior Product Manager, recommended the following floors:
Tapiflex Excellence 80 vinyl flooring in Modern Oak Grege was chosen for the main children’s area, because it was designed for heavy-foot traffic areas, has a cushioning effect, improves acoustics, is impervious to liquids and is very easy-to-clean and maintain.
DESSO AirMaster Earth carpet tile in Dark Grey was chosen for the school center and the staff offices since it traps fine dust particles, keeping them out of the air and away from asthma and allergy sufferers. It has a nice, cushiony and carpet-like texture. It is easy to replace sections only, so it’s perfect for childcare environments.
Lastly, the school purchased, outside of the competition, Tarkett’s LuxCommercial Artificial Turf for the outdoor grounds.
