Healing Architecture Award 2025

The new Children's and Youth Clinic at the University Medical Center, Freiburg has been honored with the Healing Architecture Award 2025. This project is regarded as a beacon of healing architecture that places people at its center.

A Holistic Concept for Recovery

The architecture combines light, color, orientation, and art to create an environment that promotes healing and reduces anxiety—especially for the youngest patients. The design follows the principles of Healing Architecture and sets new standards in hospital construction.

Sustainable Flooring Solutions by Tarkett

We are proud that Tarkett is part of this project. Approximately 14,000 m² of durable, functional, and sustainable flooring was installed:

  • Products: iQ Granit & heterogeneous wood-look sheet flooring
  • Application areas: Patient rooms, corridors, and functional zones

The decision to use Tarkett was based on criteria such as functionality, durability, and sustainability—essential for sensitive healthcare environments.

Sustainability & ReStart

The project pursues clear sustainability goals. Through Tarkett’s ReStart program, a true circular economy is supported by collecting and recycling used flooring. This reinforces ecological responsibility and was a key factor in choosing Tarkett floors.
