A rich brand history in Sweden

Tarkett has a storied history in Sweden which started with a craftsman who transformed his workshop into a factory in 1886 in Southern Sweden.

Over the next decades until 1925, the company refocused on wood flooring. It ranked among the leading companies in the sector at that time.

In the 1950s, as reconstruction was underway in Europe, our employees embarked on a mission to revolutionize the way people experience flooring, driven by a passion for innovation and the need of more affordable, sustainable, and faster to install solutions.

Early 1948, our local teams developed a cutting-edge innovation: its first resilient vinyl floor named Tarkett to stress its relationship with Parquet – Parkett in Swedish – and remain a key product associated with Sweden.

Its cutting-edge products soon gained widespread recognition among the local communities for their durability, style, and eco-friendly attributes because vinyl products were helping to reduce demand for forest resources. And in 1961, we invented the first homogenous vinyl flooring with a foam backing.

With each passing year, Tarkett continues to innovate, staying abreast of evolving market trends and customer needs around Europe.

Since its establishment in 1951 in Sweden, our Ronneby manufacturing site has been created and dedicated to producing exceptional homogeneous flooring. Over the years, the facility has grown and evolved, embracing technological advancements and sustainability practices by introducing post-use recycling. Ronneby plant in Sweden started the first vinyl recycling program in 1957. Our manufacturing site in Hanaskog is one of our European production sites concentrating on the production of wood flooring, our parquet.
